Outreach:
i
Adult Drop-In:  The Pride Center is open every Saturday from 10am to 2pm for adult drop-in hours.
This is a time for those that are questioning, struggling, or just looking for someone to talk to about
the GLBT Community to feel welcome.  We have Internet Resources, A Library of Books, Resource
Directories to helpful agencies, and much more.  We hope to extend these hours as funds become
available to get staffing taken care of.
i
Youth Drop-In / Youth Group:  The Pride Center is open The First and Third Saturday from 2pm
to 6pm for youth drop-in hours.  This is a chance for ages 13-18 who are questioning, struggling, or
just need someone to talk to about the GLBT Community and to feel welcome.  Youth can stop in
for use of our resources or they can participate with others in a peer led Youth Group, with planned
activities and open time to chat and share their feelings.  The Youth Group will have special monthly
learning and educational speakers as well.  There will always be a warm meal served at 5pm for
those that want to sit and eat with friends.
i
GLBT Speakers Bureau:  The Pride Center also has a speakers bureau who go out in the GLBT
Community and to our Ally's and speak about GLBT Issues and Diversity Training.  We have a wide
range of speakers available, from those that can speak about business, military, education, dating,
relationships, and more.  If you are looking for a speaker to address GLBT issues in your workplace,
school, community program, or other group setting, please contact us with your program needs.
i
Community Pride Garden:  The Community Pride Garden is located next door to the Pride Center
in the lot donated by GLBT Philanthropist Don Rowinsky.  The goal of the garden is to promote a
sense of pride, not only in the GLBT Community, but the neighborhood that surrounds it.  The Pride
Garden is still under construction and planting and any and all donations are appreciated.  There is
an artistic rendering of the Garden and more information on our Pride Garden Information Page.
We hope to make this community garden a source of pride and outreach in the years to come.  Any
one looking to help with the Garden, should contact the Pride Center.  Work begins again in March.
i
Mahoning Valley Gay News:  The Pride Center publishes a monthly newsletter that is currently
available online, but will soon be used as an outreach in the community.  We have currently been
seeking advertisers to mass produce our newsletter for distribution in the GLBT and Ally community
so that we can increase visibility and awareness.  We are currently soliciting articles and events for
our calendar that is relevant to the GLBT Community.  Go to our Newsletter page for more info.
